CCT Observes World Aids Day

Cagayan Colleges Tuguegarao celebrated World Aids Day with a half-day lecture on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) awareness, December 11,2009. The organizers (Office of Health and Food Services in squaring off with the BS Nursing 3rd year students of the College of Health) presented a new data on National Dissemination Forum for HIV/AIDS in the Philippines to know more about the epidemic and its changing trends. They lectured on recent discoveries, researches and actions being taken by the World Health Organization to find cure and to prevent the disease. The lecture was also in response to the public announcement of Honorable Francisco Duque III, Health Secretary, that Filipinos should be more aware of the nature of the disease because he believes that Filipinos can mount a stronger and a more focused response that reflects the great urgency with which everyone needs to confront with. Organizers emphasized, too, that HIV/AIDS is up-and-coming as primary health and development concerns which can become explosive to communities, thus, this can surely educate students on its prevention. Recipients of this lecture were the students of the College of Maritime Education. |
